Internship in Legal Affairs Division

Legal Affairs Division (LAD) is responsible for providing legal advice across the Organisation and for protecting its legal interests, and for maintaining, interpreting and developing the Organisation’s legal framework. With the growth of EUMETSAT in recent years and the addition of new activities, the work of LAD has become increasingly diverse and broad in scope.

An internship within LAD therefore allows a unique insight into the myriad of legal issues facing an international organisation active in the fields of space, meteorology and climate observation. The intern will be part of a small team, which will allow for the possibility of being involved in a broad array of activities. The intern will have the opportunity to interact with other EUMETSAT divisions, notably becoming acquainted with the administrative functioning of the Organisation.

The intern will work on various assignments including performing research, drafting legal opinions, revising documents from other Divisions, and preparing summaries, meetings and presentations. Some administrative work may be required.

Under the supervision of the mentor, the intern will work with Legal Officers in charge of various areas of responsibility of LAD, primarily on institutional law, international civil service law and personal data protection, but also on procurements, cooperation agreements, satellite programmes, and/or other areas as required.
